Further, the study focused on the relationship between absences and academic performance. First, the study tracked five cohorts of elementary school children for a period of six consecutive years. The study centered on the siblingsââ¬â¢ progress over a period of six consecutive years. The six years included elementary, middle school, and high school. The policy implications on absence behavior could be derived in terms of which data ââ¬âbased decisions. Second, the research zeroed in on both math and reading standardized tests. The study showed that the absentee students feel alienated from their classmates when they enter the classroom.
